Island holiday vibe, proximity and easy access from Auckland gave Rhonda and Michael all the inspiration they needed to look for a holiday home on Waiheke Island.

The dream came true with the purchase of Mrs Jones Holiday Cottage Oneroa — a charming little heritage bungalow in a gorgeous garden setting, close to the beach and the village. “It’s such a short trip, no long drive! The moment we get on the ferry, we’re on holiday. Mrs Jones’ is our home-away-from-home,” Rhonda says. “It’s so well set up that all we need to do is pack an overnight bag and go!”
Mrs Jones Holiday Cottage lives up to her name — a welcoming and relaxed destination with real character. This cute, 2-bedroom bungalow takes vintage design to another level, incorporating all the present-day conveniences and comfortable furnishings into colourful interiors decorated with a fascinating collection of memorabilia. With a queen bedroom, double bedroom plus sofa bed in the lounge, full kitchen and bathroom, it is well-equipped for one or two couples, or a small family. Outside there’s a deck with sea views, and a fenced garden suitable for children and the family dog.
Even before buying, Rhonda and Michael had decided to help finance their Waiheke property dream through holiday home rentalS. Having found their holiday house, the couple immediately signed up with Bachcare and have been happy clients ever since — along with their guests who consistently provide great feedback.
Rhonda says they couldn’t do it without Bachcare because they can’t get to the island at a moment’s notice to manage anything that needs taking care:“ Bachcare provides a reliable, consistent service with people on the ground nearby to greet guests as they arrive, sort anything and ensure the guests have a great stay. Our local property manager Sue keeps a special eye on our place — she is so reliable, helpful, friendly and delightful.”
“Without Bachcare we would not be able to have our holiday home. The paying guests help us pay the mortgage, maintenance and improvements that we need to do to keep the place in good condition for everyone who comes to stay.”
