Only an hour away from their Wellington home, Kristin enjoys the weekend breaks which allow her to leave the everyday chores behind. “It’s a lifestyle property so it allows our kids to have quad bikes and enjoy having the open outdoors space. I love looking out from the house — it has such lovely peaceful surroundings — and we love Martinborough as a place.”
The Olive Estate is a substantial country villa, only minutes from the wine village of Martinborough but tucked away down an avenue of mature trees on a private 4-hectare block planted with olives and grape vines. There’s a distinctly European feel about the grounds and the house, a stylish 2-storey, 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with spacious living areas that can easily accommodate eight guests. Casual outdoor living spaces include a vine covered pergola, an area with an outdoor fireplace, bbq and expansive lawns. The house is part of a gated community and guests are able to use the common tennis court.
